Two Kay Guitars, circa 1950s

January 31, 2014

2 kays
I’m trying to determine the age of these two Kay guitars, which I own.
(note the same distinctive headstock style on each guitar).
The archtop was revitalized by my friend Johnny Nitro (rest in peace) while he was an employee at Fat Dog Guitars in Berkeley.
The flat top came from a local thrift store.
Both guitars have 19 frets with the body attached to the neck at fret 14.
Serial numbers:
arch top: K1506518
flat top: L(?)839755112 (first 5 may be a 6–)
Any of you Kay Guitar serial number experts out there able to tell me the year these were manufactured?
I have not come up with anything that useful via web search regarding these.
